About Dun Huang
Dun Huang is one of the chinese restaurants listed in Long Island City, New York. The business is registered at 27-23 Jackson Ave, Long Island City, NY 11101; use this page to check its hours, phone number and Google rating before you make the trip.
In cities with a Chinatown, weekend mornings bring dim sum carts or order sheets, and lines form early at the most popular spots in Long Island City; walk-ins are standard and reservations are uncommon outside large banquet restaurants. Regional labels matter: Cantonese, Sichuan, Hunan, Shanghainese and Taiwanese kitchens cook very differently, so a restaurant's stated region is a better guide to the food than the word "Chinese" alone. Some smaller restaurants in New York are BYOB with no corkage fee; call ahead to confirm. A tip of 15-20% is customary for table service but not expected at counter-order takeout. Spice level, MSG and allergen questions are normal to ask before ordering, and most kitchens are happy to leave an ingredient out or tone down the heat if you mention it when ordering rather than after the food arrives.
Hours are published for 7 days a week. Typical hours are 11:30 am–9:30 pm. Hours in the United States do change around federal holidays and long weekends, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. You can reach Dun Huang at (347) 396-5873; calling is usually the quickest way to ask about availability, prices or directions. Its website is dhnoodles.com, where you may find menus, price lists or booking options.
Its Google rating is 3.9 out of 5 from 301 reviews, a solid but mixed picture; reading the most recent reviews will tell you what to expect.
Long Island City is in New York, in the Northeast, where four distinct seasons shape local life: hot humid summers, snowy winters that can close businesses for a day, and a dense pattern of towns where walking, transit and street parking all matter. Getting around Long Island City is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across New York's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Authentic Northwest Chinese BBQ - Must Try! Came here for dinner with friends tonight and we were pleasantly surprised! Highly recommend to anyone in LIC! Food Highlights: · Beef skewers: Fantastic! Tender, juicy, and perfectly seasoned. A must-order. · Grilled eggplant: Loaded with garlic and super soft. If you love garlic, this is absolutely perfect. · Cumin lamb: Super authentic! The cumin flavor was rich, the meat was tender, and the onions helped balance the richness perfectly. This is the star dish. · Ham sausage, cauliflower, and chicken wings: All on point! The grill master knows their stuff - everything came out perfectly charred, smoky, and flavorful. We also tried the wide glass noodles and Chinese burgers (pork & lamb), which were delicious as well. They even have a fun challenge to eat 3.5 lbs of noodles in 15 mins! Generous portions (around $50 per person), friendly service, and a cozy, unpretentious vibe. Will definitely be back for the BBQ!

I came in during lunch time on the weekend and there was no wait. It was relatively empty with a couple other customers in the restaurant. The restaurant was clean and had a decent atmosphere. The music was not overly loud. I ordered the braised beef noodle soup with wide noodles and the food arrived quick. I was expecting the noodles to be wide like chow fun noodles but it was closer to the width of fresh pho noodles. The meat was tender but some of the noodles clumped together, which made it less soft and bouncy of a texture. The broth was light with a mild kick. You can’t really go wrong with this for the price.

Dun Huang is a pretty regular spot for us. The noodles have an exquisite pairing with the broth and toppings. The broth absorbs the umami flavor of the meat, and the noodles have an amazing texture. The lamb skewers are easy to chew and generously seasoned with spices, creating a spicy explosion in your mouth. For desert we tried the sticky rice for the first time and it did not disappoint. The flavor was sweet but not too sweet, and the fillings are super delicious as well. Super good overall!

This Dun Huang location is consistent with the other locations — reliable, quick, and satisfying. The food comes out pretty fast, which makes it a great option for a casual meal or quick dinner. I ordered the signature noodles with a mild spice level, which turned out to be very light —even though it had two chili peppers on the menu. The flavors are clean and balanced, and the portions are generous as always. Overall, a solid and dependable spot for hand-pulled noodles, especially if you’re already a fan of the Dun Huang chain.

A simple noodle dish with great hand-pulled noodles! The noodles were chewy and super long, and the broth wasn’t spicy even at the 🌶️🌶️ spice level, so you’ll be fine even if your spice tolerance is low. I personally prefer the bowl here over more highly rated noodle shops in the area, because the noodles definitely taste hand-pulled. It’s also only $13 per bowl and the portion size is very decent. (You can also add extra meat for $5, but I’m not sure there was that much more meat compared to my regular bowl, which had an adequate amount.) Service was all I wanted from a casual eatery; I imagine you’d be able to get more across if you speak Chinese, but communicating in English was fine and we got our food pretty quickly. Not sure why the rating is low here, but if they made improvements since, it definitely works now.
